Macedon Ranges Chardonnay 2009

Yellow gold in colour this chardonnay displays aromas of fresh rockmelon and lemon, which follow through on to the pallet with a touch of quality oak and plenty of lively acidity.

Wine Making Notes

Grown by us at our Daylesford vineyard in the Macedon Ranges - at 771m ASL this is a truly cool/cold climate vineyard site. The vineyard is as meticulously cared for throughout the year as naturally as is possible. Extensive care is needed to ensure we get ample ripeness. Complex pruning and trellising techniques are used. Several passes are made of each vine every season ensuring that each shoot and bunch is in the most beneficial position.

The grapes were whole bunch pressed under gas cover then transported to tank where fermentation took place. 30% was partially barrel fermented and then aged in high quality French oak, the rest was matured on lees in stainless steel tanks. Partial malolactic fermentation was allowed to occur. After seven months the wine was cold stabilised, fined, sterile filtered and bottled.
