macedon ranges chardonnay 2019
Vibrant and zippy, but with plenty to unfold. Think citrus, a hint of honeydew, white nashi pear and a subtle, almost rose, perfume. The palate has textural interest that plays around a racing acid line, and length that hangs. Overall this wine presents at first as refreshing and easy going, but with each sip, there’s layers of intense aromatics and texture to uncover.

Vineyard, Vintage Notes
The Passing Clouds Musk Estate vineyard is now 21 years old with 12 acres planted in total. The vines are in balance and have reached maturity. The vineyard is on a very cool site with a top elevation of 742m. It is north facing with volcanic soils. The modified wide T trellis gives us good penetration of sunlight and wind, reducing disease pressure and improving vine balance and its ability to ripen the fruit evenly.
A slightly warmer than average season with mostly dry conditions throughout. 2019 hit the sweet spot between 2018 and 2017. A happy spring, leading into summer with intermittent freshening rainfall, before A pleasantly warm autumn allowed for pristine ripening that has left us with the highest quality chardonnay ever harvested from our Musk site
