About Us

Established in 1974 Passing Clouds has been making wines of longevity and grace for over half a century.

We are passionate grape growers making wines such as cool climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and warmer climate Shiraz plus more along with low intervention winemaking.

Visit us for rolling hills and sweeping views of Estate vineyard from the warmth of our restaurant & cellar door.

Experience a wine tasting or even just a glass of our best vintage along with a charcoal fired cooked lunch, La Famiglia style (Rustic Italian inspired food).

We look forward to welcoming you as part of your tour of the Daylesford & Macedon Ranges wineries regions.

Vineyards

Passing Clouds is fortunate to operate in both Daylesford, Macedon Ranges and Bendigo wine regions. Our Estate vineyard is in Musk and our terroir allows us to run using biodynamic and regenerative agricultural principles and is the source of our premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay but we also work with four other growers, 3 in Bendigo and one in Port Philip, just outside the township of Kilmore. We are proud wine to be part of a growing wine region in Victoria and we encourage you to visit other award winning cool climate cellar doors to your itinerary such as Attwoods Wines, Mount Towrong Vineyard and also Hanging Rock Winery, as you enjoy the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges region.

Winemaking

If we do the job right, the winemaking side of things is a matter of gently guiding the fruit from vine to bottle, as we are very much of the ilk of letting the hand of god (mother nature) rather than the hand of man (winemaker) do the talking. We always have the aim creating wines that speak of the vineyards, the seasons and our particular style.

Our Story

The story begins in 1973 when Graeme Leith and Sue Mackinnon, great friends and partners, decided that they wanted even more challenges in life than were possible for them in their careers as an electrical contractor and a journalist. they wanted to brave the elements, face the challenges of the land, and like so many before them pursue the holy grail of ‘the best wine in the world’.
